Adobe Premiere Elements 13

Here is some good news for all the video editing zealots out there, Adobe has released its latest Adobe Premiere Elements 13 with a whole new lot of customization options. Some of the impressive additions are guided edits, instant movies and template storyboards that make video editing a lot more easy and fun. Its new video stabilization feature, which works great with action cam footage, deserves a separate mention. So is it worth a buy? Let’s see.

System requirements and price

The latest version of premiere elements cost you $149 if you buy it along with Photoshop elements. The software costs $99 as a standalone. However, the prices drop to $119 as a pack and $79 as a standalone if you are upgrading it from a previous version of Adobe. The application demands a minimum RAM of 2gb and minimum hard disk space of 5gb. It also requires a DX9 or 10 graphics card as well as a SSE2 support on Windows. It is compatible with Windows version of 7 or above and Mac OS X 10.8 or above.

Features

The interface remains more or less the same as the predecessor, except for the addition of its new Elements Live mode, which is helpful in improving your video creations a great deal. The quick mode has been given one of the neatest editing views, avoiding cloggy boxes all over your screen. The guided mode is perhaps one of the best features with the latest edition. It takes a beginner through some basic and a few complicated editing processes step-by-step and also highlights the part of the screen where the action is required.

Its new guided edit tools, helps you create some sophisticated masking and title effects of pro level. Video stabilization tool has improved to another level although it tests you patience even when you are using the quick mode.

Publish and share instantaneously

The output option has a new ‘publish and share’ button that directly sends your edited work directly to a DVD or online to facebook or youtube in high quality. There is also the option to make a web DVD with some exciting themes such as Broadway, music video, holidays and Sports.

Even with all the improvements, the app has some downsides such as lack of 4K or 3D video editing support and multicam. Also, the application’s speed is a cause of concern as it lags behind in speed compared with its competitors.
