The Good and the Bad about MSI GE62 Apache
The MSI GE72 Apache, the new gaming laptop, seems to be quite reasonably priced and comes with a full 15.6 inch HD screen. The Intel Core i7 processor is installed in the MSI GE72 and it comes with a hard drive of 1TB and 8GB memory. It is the only laptop with the latest GeForce GTX 965M graphics by Nvidia.
Though there are some drawbacks such as a limited battery life as well bloatware scads, they are easily overlooked with positives such as a decent screen, good connectivity and a solid body. It is an extremely good option for users wanting to engage in some serious gaming.
The GE726 is a slim laptop, black in color and measures around 1.14x11x16.5 inches, weighing close to 5.16 pounds. Its front comes with a red-colored accent stripe and the lid carries a red-colored G Series symbol (dragon). All this adds quite a bit of bling to the machine. In addition to this, the chiclet-type keyboard comes installed with multizone backlighting which is quite careful. It will have a rainbow effect but users can change this from one color-to-color or even turn it off altogether.
There is a complete numeric keypad; however the keys are slightly narrow, as they need to fit in on the 15-inch laptop. You will find full-bodied mouse buttons on the touchpad that is under the keyboard. These can be easily located even when playing aggressively as compared to a single-piece touchpad.
The LCD screen, which is 15.6-inch in width, has implanted DisplayPort technology. This connects the machine and the graphics card directly. The screen is noticeably bright and has a full High Definition (1,920×1, 080) resolution. There is no touch screen feature to help users browse the Windows 8 OS that is part of the bundle.
The GE62 has in-built speakers, inclusive of a subwoofer and deliver decent output. The sound is enough to fill up a room which is medium sized. The subwoofer does not end up shaking the walls and at the same time is enough for watching movies and playing games. The front-facing fans of the system are audible when the user is aggressively playing games on it. The sound is however not overbearing.
The battery life of the GE62 Apache is limited as compared to the competition (3 hours and 15 minutes) such as the Lenovo Y50 Touch and Acer V 15 Nitro. It is still sufficient for a film viewing session. You just need the AC adapter at hand when playing.
On the whole, the MSI GE62 Apache can be seen as a decent entry-level laptop for gaming. It has several user-friendly features for gamers to enjoy and a good keyboard with changeable backlighting.
